Our polished resort situated in the lap of nature is a 33-minute car ride away from Saphale train station, and 40 km from the highway. We enjoy the intersection of being near the city but still far away from the noise and bustle.
Vihang Vihar had humble beginnings as a birdwatcher’s paradise near the beach. It was a wide-open space near Saphale in Palghar. Eventually, we, the humble proprietors, began planting trees, mainly Casuarina equisetifolia (Suru) or the whistling pine, so-called because the soft singing of the air through its innumerable slender twigs creates a pleasant sound, which lends it its name.
Our area sprawled over 10 acres of land and became a popular spot not just for birdwatchers from adjacent areas, but for birdwatchers all over India!
According to the forest zone, there are over 125 species of birds found in our area, which makes it a popular spot for birdwatchers.
As the popularity of our resort skyrocketed, it drew in more and more visitors with passing time, which led to the undertaking of our first construction project of its kind on the land, a simple washroom for female visitors.
As time passed by, we gained popularity not just with birdwatching hobbyists but also with families looking for a countryside getaway, which created the necessity for constructing rooms, which is how Vihang Vihar came into existence.
The name itself is indicative of all that Vihang vihar has to offer. We started it off as a birdwatcher’s paradise, and one of its dual meanings is Come, roam freely like a bird and enjoy life.
We are far from an actual village though, as there are a wide variety of activities for you to partake in, ranging from fishing and boating to a train ride to sightsee, a backwater, a private beach, and a swimming pool.
